Flow-wrapping machines
Flow Pack packaging machines are machines for horizontal packaging of single or multiple products in three-seal bags, made with plastic films or laminated materials.
This technology is chosen by manufacturing companies and contract packers looking for production continuity, packaging speed and product protection.
LMC srl solutions are designed to integrate into existing lines and adapt to different requirements in terms of format, material and line speed.
Why choose flow-wrap packaging?
Flow Pack packaging is one of the most widely used systems in industrial packaging because it allows neat, stable and well-sealed packages to be achieved, with a fast and continuous process.
It is a technology suitable for the packaging of food and non-food products, when a package is required to protect the contents from external agents and maintain consistent production throughout the entire line.
- Protection of the product during packaging, transport and handling
- High production speed
- Good flexibility in format management
- Use of transparent or printed films
- Easy integration into automatic or semi-automatic lines
How Flow Pack packaging works
In Flow Pack packaging, the product moves along a feeding system while the film is unwound and continuously wraps the contents.
The material is then sealed with a longitudinal seal and two transverse seals, which define the final package. The result is a sealed, uniform package ready for the subsequent stages of handling or distribution.
The type of film used is selected based on the characteristics of the product, the required level of protection and the line speed.
Types of flow-wrapping machines
Flow Pack Packaging Machines Rotary
Rotary Flow Pack packaging machines are designed for continuous, high-speed production. The rotary motion of the sealing jaws ensures a constant and stable workflow, making them ideal for production lines with high volumes.
They are particularly suitable for packaging:
- biscuits and baked goods
- food bars
- packaged snacks
- small industrial products
Flow Pack Packaging Machines Rotary Long Dwell
Rotary Long Dwell Flow Pack packaging machines increase the contact time during the sealing phase, allowing a more effective closure even with complex materials or films that are difficult to seal.
They are suitable for products that require greater packaging protection or the use of technical materials, such as:
- food products in modified atmosphere
- cheese and fresh products
- frozen products
- packaging with laminated or barrier films
Flow Pack Packaging Machines Intermittent
Intermittent Flow Pack packaging machines operate with step-by-step movement and allow greater control over the packaging cycle. This configuration is suitable when the product requires precise positioning or greater attention during sealing.
They are often used for packaging:
- delicate or fragile products
- artisan sweets and baked goods
- irregular products or variable formats
- technical or industrial items
Flow Pack Packaging Machines Box Motion
Box Motion Flow Pack packaging machines use a sealing system synchronized with the product movement. This allows high packaging speeds to be maintained while ensuring stable and precise sealing.
They are particularly suitable for:
- larger food products
- multipack packaging
- baked goods packaged in trays
- applications requiring high production performance

In-line integration
LMC srl Flow Pack packaging machines can be integrated with feeding systems for packaging lines, product handling devices and automation solutions upstream and downstream of the machine.
At the machine output, rotary tables for product accumulation can also be installed, used to collect and distribute the newly packaged products, facilitating picking and packing operations.
Each configuration is defined based on three main factors:
- Product format and characteristics
- Type of film or packaging material
- Required production line speed
Supported materials
Flow Pack machines can operate with different flexible packaging materials, selected based on the product and the type of sealing required.
The machine configuration is developed to ensure production continuity and process stability even when the material used varies.
Maintenance and business continuity
Flow Pack packaging machines are designed to operate in continuous production environments, with particular attention to component accessibility and ease of routine maintenance.
The goal is to reduce machine downtime and facilitate inspection and intervention activities over time.
In some production lines, packaging can also be completed or supported by other closing systems, such as clipping machines used for resealable food bags.
Alternatively, in the food sector, twist packaging machines are also used when the film is closed by twisting rather than sealing.
